They could not have chosen a more charming, friendly and obviously dedicated person to become their new GM than young family man, Christopher Bohwongprasert. He has only been in charge for just a few months but already his fresh approach has revitalised and recharged the wonderful staff's enthusiasm and he has the entire resort well prepared for the coming high season.
Ramada is not the usual romantic luxury holiday resort. It is instead a magnificent, unashamedly family orientated resort with children's care and enjoyment the highest priority.
Most hotels and resorts offer special children's programmes but the Ramada has broken the mould and reinvented fun and adventure for the children. We all know that once the children are happy and occupied in their own exciting adventure playground, then Mom and Dad will benefit with loads of time for trouble free, worry free, relaxation.
The fun begins by choosing a room. Mom and Dad get a conventional bedroom with king size bed but the children get to choose from a connecting magical theme bedroom. The girls may prefer the pretty pink princess's castle room; only the best for such special children.
The boys might like the outer space room with shooting stars, flying meteorites and far off galaxies or the underwater room surrounded by live fish and a patrolling shark overhead. Whatever the choice everyone will be enthralled with their special magical place. The play station with plenty of games on hand in each children's room is sure to fill in lots of time, making sleep-ins for Mom and Dad even easier.
The best is yet to come because not far away, just above the lobby, is the very magical Kidz Club where Phuket's longest water slide provides endless fun for all. This expertly staffed children's zone is a place for supervised swimming and water games, where the staff and kids get wet for a game of water basket ball under the gaze of prehistoric dinosaurs.
After the pool the children can retire to the mini cinema for a new release movie viewed from the comfort of bean bags, or try a few computer games next door in the games zone. Painting, hobbies, board games, bike rides are all part of the fun and when hunger strikes there are very yummy children's snacks and ice creams to be made and sampled.
Let us not forget the adults altogether. A short walk from the spacious lobby is the 'World News' coffee shop where you can grab a snack, use the library or keep up to date with world events on TV or in daily newspapers.
Joe Cool's is the Ramada's great theme restaurant where soothing music by jazz greats Louis Armstrong, Billie Holiday and the Duke is played. Here you can enjoy a tasty breakfast, lunch and dinner inside with the must-see-to-believe 1964 Chevy parked up the wall. Or dine outside on the timber deck overlooking the sparkling swimming pool. If it is a beer, cocktail and a game of pool then upstairs at Joe Cool's is the place to be with sensational views of Karon beach. It is a great spot to enjoy the night time entertainment.
Ramada Resort is a big surprise and one of a kind in Phuket. Apart from the magical theme rooms there are more conventional rooms ranging from standard to Deluxe. The location is superb, only a couple of minutes walk to pristine Karon Beach, shopping and great restaurants. You can find out much more at www.ramadaphuket.com.
